"In portraiture we want to represent emotion," says watercolor artist Rocío González. In this lesson, she accomplishes that using a single color.
"In portraiture we want to represent emotion," says watercolor artist Rocío González.
In this lesson, she accomplishes that using a single color, Cobalt Turquoise.
Based in Spain, Rocío is an engineering professor at the University of Seville.
"The precision and analytical skills from my engineering background translate into meticulous attention to detail in my art. However," she says, "my creative process remains fluid and intuitive, allowing for spontaneity."
In her Museletter lesson (69 mins), you'll learn how to portray different values in watercolor by adjusting the ratio of water to paint.
Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, Rocío attempts to "capture life's transparency and fluidity, both vulnerability and strength" in her own art.
"I aim to convey that profound beauty lies in our flaws and that embracing our true selves, with all our complexities, is a source of power and inspiration," she says.
