Paint an Autumnal Watercolor Portrait with Imola Dalma
Imola Dalma was an "overly precise" artist – until she embraced watercolor.
By nature, Imola Dalma is an "overly precise" artist with a penchant for detailed realism in her graphite drawings.
Watercolor, she says, challenged all of that.
"I decided to try this unpredictable medium to help me loosen up," she says. "For me, the real challenge is to create something that is not an exact copy of the reference but still manages to convey the same ideas and emotions. Watercolor has proved to be the perfect tool to do this. Accepting that I can't control everything and embracing this unpredictability have completely changed my perspective."
In this lesson (79 mins), Imola paints a striking watercolor portrait using three autumn-worthy colors: Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Red, Payne's Grey.
